Took our time to run through the checks - still not too familiar with the 717, after all.

BEFORE TAKEOFF CHECKLIST

Runway/Entry point ................RWY 29, full length

EAD ...........................................................Checked

Cabin Alert & Crew Announcement ..........Complete

LDG/EXT Lights ......................................Landing & Strobes on

Radar ...............................................................ON

Transponder .................................................TA/RA

2017_03_19_leas-levc_tfs9v.jpg

Takeoff performance guesstimate proved to be alright - I chose Flaps 20/max dial-a-flap setting due to the short runway.

Arrival into Valencia confronted me with a few other problems. RWY 30 was active, winds were calm, but the STAR onto RWY 30 includes a DME Arc around D15 VLC VOR.

2017_03_19_leas-levc_css3r.jpg

Apparently, nobody had told our dear little 717 about that.

Looking closely on the approach plate for the ILS 30 and the VOR 30, the procedures require an ADF anyway - which for us in the TFDi means, either we're visual like 15 miles out or we're not legally flying that approach. Oh well, straight-in onto RWY 12 it was then!

Overall, there were a few points that reminded me why I kept this plane in the hangar for so long. I'll just list them here to have a complete list once, maybe I'll find the time to open tickets or check the to-do-lists for each...

-ADF required LEVC ILS30

-overshot ALT in VS mode

-still "managed/magenta" VS descend instead of IDLE

-ATS not reacting at all to manual speed commands (@ KIAS 230, selected speed 180 in the FCP window and confirmed in the FMA, ATS procedes to increase N1...)

-unable to arm CLB derates on ground

-fix page radials not implemented

-engine start still unrealistic (no N1 rotation without fuel, late oil pressure)

-lack of documentation as far as rw procedures and performance are concerned

This VC is just amazing. You guys even put a detailed texture on the lower side of the MCP - who else does this??

Flaps kept at 18 until were on stand, common procedure on all DC-9 types to help passengers evacuate via the wing in an emergency.

Minimums 730 radio, what's the reason behind that? o.O

Should be DH 730 - the 717-rookie pressed the wrong button :D.

DH730 would still be wrong, as it implies using the radio altimeter? BARO -> decision altitude; RADIO -> decision height. I doubt you flew a CATIII with minimums of 730 into Palermo ;)

Still not convinced as far as functionality is concerned, even with 1.0.6.5...

-european ND symbols still just blue squares

-engine start still wrong

-it still wouldn't keep the CLB derate I had preselected so I climbed out with like 5000fpm through FL100

-nvwgf2um.dll error after takeoff

But: She is beautiful...did they already change the exterior specmaps?

Can you provide Euro ND Symbology reference for us?

Engine start is correct based on multiple pieces of reference we have of the 717 and confirmed by a maintenance engineer for the 717

Can you please report this bug to the bugs and suggestions category of the forum?

Was this error with Hardware rendering enabled or disabled?

Not in this update just yet, those are taking quite a while and will be released for 1.1

Actually, the update to 1.0.7 fixed most of the things I would have put on my list - including the CLB derate.

The dll-error occured with hardware rendering disabled, after departure from FlyTampa Sydney. Running a GTX 670 here, maybe it's time to upgrade the GPU?

Textures set to 1024 in the P3D settings...I noticed this caused some blurries on some VC placards and overhead textures. I can't pinpoint or reproduce the issue with textures set to 2048 yet.

This is the symbol issue I was referring to Joshua.

So you're telling me the exterior wasn't touched yet? Hard to believe...it just looks sooo nice, and I can't point my finger on it, but somehow it looks even nicer than I remember it from my previous flights :D

Santa Ana to Salt Lake City

Running 1.0.7.1 in those screenshots (updated to .2 in the meantime), but that angry puppy is really starting to be fun!

Love how we have had wonderful addons for almost all members of the DC-9 family over the years. Think of the Leonardo Maddog, the Coolsky DC-9, and well, the TfDI 717!
