  1. Hello everyone, It's been a very busy few weeks! Over the last few weeks, we've released a moderately sized update for PACX (as it is nearly to version 1.0), we fixed a small snag in the TFDi Design 717's navigation display, and of course, have been hard at work on the TFDi Design MD-11. I've included some new renders and information from a few of the developers on the project. To start, I'll quote @Ricardo Ramos, the systems programmer for this project. @ozzman1997 has been doing some incredible work on the model as well. The exterior is nearing completion (still pe

  2. Good morning! I come bearing good news: The New 717 Update As many of you know, the 717 has been plagued with the View Switch CTD for a while now, and the SLI flicker has also been reported. As of April 3rd 2020, both of these bugs are now fixed. This means the CTD when switching views no longer occurs, and the SLI flicker when running two graphics cards has also been fully resolved. On behalf of everyone at TFDi Design, we would like to thank our small team of affected users and testers with bringing this resolution out as the final update of the TFDi Design 717, version 1.1.4.

  3. This morning, we posted a (not so) cryptic tweet on our Twitter. The time has come for the announcement we mentioned. So, without further ado, I would like to announce the development of the TFDi Design MD-11. Before the questions come in, I will answer some of the important ones here. Project Status No, we cannot announce a release date. With that said, we are actually announcing this project a tad earlier than we originally expected. Although progress has been solid (and relatively quick), our intent was to show the aircraft off working in-sim as the first preview. We’re st

  5. Hey everybody, sorry for the lack of clarity here. Although DirectX 12 does require some extra coding on our end, we do definitely intend to support Prepar3D V5. Our terrain radar and weather radar depend on software that may not be available immediately for Prepar3D v5, but we have total control of the rest of the software stack the aircraft depends on, so compatibility shouldn't be an issue. Truly, it'll just be a matter of creating and testing the new version to ensure stability. So, officially, yes, the aircraft will support V5. I am not entirely sure when, but it will not be too terr

  7. It is my absolute pleasure to announce that this little critter bug has finally been squashed! (read: we fixed it!) After working closely with LM (thanks everyone!), we were able to pinpoint exactly what was causing this view switch CTD and resolve it. Our amazing test team that I had gathered last year (wow... time sure flies!) worked hard to assure us that the bug is indeed resolved and confirmed they had been getting no further CTDs related to the view switch. I'd like to take this time to thank the entire View Switch Test Team -- you know who you are -- THANK YOU for all your ef

  8. First of all, I would like to say thank you to every person who has submitted content for the MD-11. We have been inundated with key materials that will contribute directly to the development of the aircraft.Everything is greatly appreciated. If you do have any more manuals, diagrams, photographs, or information please continue to send them in right here. A big shoutout to @ozzman1997 for his continued hard work on the exterior model. The control surfaces are now all exported from the model and our flight dynamics programmer will soon begin his work from the amazing material that has been

  12. Lockheed has identified the source of the issue. It appears it will be relatively straight forward to fix. We are going to be testing a solution very soon - there seems to be light at the end of this tunnel.

  13. As of 12/12, Lockheed Martin have confirmed that this is indeed a bug in Prepar3D. They are now working on a fix and a workaround in the interim. Please keep an eye on this thread, and we will continue to update you here.

  15. Hi ! I know that you can't make any official statement about the support of this platform, but I just wanted to told you that it would be really cool to have this very promising product in MSFS ! Best regards, and I wish you all the best for the developement of the MD11

  16. I truly have been waiting for this! Since the PMDG's MD-11, there hasn't been an adequate tri-engine pro-level airliner. I truly hope that You'll make this bird a new high standard for all platforms, including FSX, FSX:SE, and th P3D series. The FSX- platform is very flyable still, when using Steve's DX10 Fixer. It takes a critical amount of stress off the CPU so, it makes it possible to have UHD-textures. Also it enhances the envronment textures. This was not meant to be an ad for the DX10 Fixer, but to encourage you to make a version for the older FSX-platform also. Thank you in advance! 😄

  17. I would also like if you retain the same format for the EFB. it's great as is. A perf type flex calculator would be a great addon to get flex temp. But I think you nailed it with the docs, external, and status

  19. I'd love to see the options of RCWS and Flap Drooping as optional features. RCWS is roll CWS, in manual flight mode (Assuming the AFS levers are up and some other conditions are met) Aileron droop is in the performance improvement package McDD put out, including the 4 degree droop of outer ailerons with flaps/slats retracted, and the larger droop at the takeoff flap settings only (do not droop on landing) The KLM FCOMs + diagrams I submitted to y'all should have all that info in it Kind Regards, Josh

  20. The Addon manager as used for the 717 works perfect, dont get me wrong. However I feel like its a step forward to be able to set everything from whitin the sim (and without using Sim menu’s).

  24. I know that you are working on a version 3. I am requesting an option for v3. Stop-Overs I am sure I am not alone here, many of us VA owners have multiple stops in a single flight. A stop-over will let you land at one or multiple stops before your final destination, with your final destination landing will be the landing that counts.. I have it on my kACARS custom and everyone loves it.

  25. I've been one of the first few to buy this aircraft and I was not a happy camper for a long time and flew it only to be disappointed with it . It wasn't totally unflyable but it for the most part had some negaling difficulties. It now rides like an angel so my hats off to the team for making the long journey to success. For anyone thinking about investing in a superb B717-200 THIS IS IT! Thanks again Team.

  26. Hi all, I would like to suggest to TFDI team to put in the MD-11 the possibility of a failure and maintenance system, I think that this thing it gould give us a more deeper product and much more realistic, and obviusly with the posibility of desactivate for thouse that don't want to have a failure in mid of a flight for the bad handling or because of a random failure. I think more people would like this kind of things in the MD-11, personally I love this things and makes that the flight have to be perfectly handled for avoid a failure. Thank you for read my suggestion and for make this lovely

  29. Thanks for the update. In addition to being eye candy the 717 is probably the most stable software you can buy for P3dV4 so looking forward to the MD11.

  30. Good afternoon! Over the past few weeks since our announcement of the MD-11, a lot of progress has been made to the aircraft alongside ongoing work with our Passenger and Crew Experience addon. This blog post will bring you up to speed on what we are doing in the background. PACX We have noticed a few bug reports regarding extreme taxi conditions. Upon further review, there were parameters involved with the extreme taxi conditions that often triggered the message in the client. As a result, the decision was made to remove this event from PACX as it is almost impossible to define

  31. We are not becoming OrbX exclusive, this is simply another place to purchase the TFDi Design 717. At the moment, there will not be any license transfers and any updates we release will be mirrored with OrBX. Any updates will be done via the OrbX store if you purchased it from there, if otherwise, you will update via the Addon Manager.

  33. @ProfessorMadman I'm glad that this topic was brought up because one of my goals as a modeler is to ensure that this aircraft is as painter-friendly as possible while not making any sacrifices in texture resolution or clarity. The aircraft has not been texture mapped at this point, and windows HAVE been physically cut out, but it's just as easy for me to leave the windows in place on the texture map rather than moving them to another location on the sheet (or to a different sheet altogether, which I have also seen done.) The PBR workflow actually makes this even easier. I couldn't tell you why

  34. They mean the curvature of a CRT EFIS screen. As the screen is literally a small cathode ray tube television screen the edges start to curve inward as a CRT screen is not flat. Any elements displayed on the screen start to curve slightly depending on viewing position. As you can see in the picture you are looking towards to FO's main screen from the Captain's seat and there is an illusion of curvature. Looking at the screen in front of you gives off less of this effect.

  35. I can't believe your still using a 17 year old sim, still? I am still with P3Dv4.5 that I may well stick to and the chance to use that best great MD11 again fills me with excitement. The last model was the best PMDG ever did but their attitude really sucks. I know now since flying this 717 that TFDI will make a superb job of it and having purchased both the FS9 and FSX version of this aircraft I am offering any beta testing that you need?

  39. some other aircraft I fly you can flick switches in the overhead panel with the mouse scroll wheel. So scroll fwd and switch goes on, and back off. that would be nice to go with the left click/right click thing.

  41. I bought this product very early when it first came out. Been using for over 3 years and never had an issue like that. I've flown a lot of fun successful flights with it. This team works so hard to help people with issues, I've seen it for years. They're one of the few companies who doesn't ridicule you when you post a legitimate problem

  42. Folks, we just launched version 0.9.90.0 of PACX. This update includes a whole slew of fixes, changes, and additions. This version should be the most polished, complete yet. Please review it and let us know if you find any issues or items that considerably negatively impact the experience. We will continue to take feedback and feature requests beyond this point, but we will begin shifting development efforts toward other projects soon. We will continue to monitor the demand for more expansion and respond accordingly.

  43. We have a fix. Lockheed Martin was able to confirm with us what it was (a texture format issue compounded by a bug in Prepar3D, it seems). We've done some internal testing over the last few weeks and it appears that it is solved. We are doing a final round of testing now, but we expect the fix to be public relatively soon.

  44. As of 03/02, LM have informed us what is causing the View Switch Crash bug. As a result, we have a potential fix and will be sending test packages out in the coming days.

  45. The view change crash is frustrating, but in fairness to TFDi they've pinned it as the first item in the 717 Community Support forum and the workaround always works, for me anyway: https://tfdidesign.com/index.php/knowledgebase/44/Simulator-Crashing-When-Changing-Views.html I've had the TFDi 717 for a couple of years and their support has been some of the best I've got in the flight sim world.

  46. I was informed they were looking into both a permanent fix and a hotfix to get something running for us a bit sooner.

  47. We will be packaging a custom package that LM can use to test in the next few days. They have agreed to help us debug if we're able to ship it in a way that's compatible with their environment. We will update you with our findings.
