American Airlines Flight 965 was a regular flight from Miami International Airport to Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport in Cali, Colombia, which on its approach to land collided with a mountain in Buga, Colombia on Wednesday December 20, 1995, killing 159 occupants of the aircraft, saving only 4 of them. It has been the worst recorded plane crash in Colombia. The crash was the first of a U.S. Boeing 757-223 and was, in its time, the largest plane crash involving a U.S. aircraft since the shooting down of Pan Am Flight 103 that occurred seven years earlier.

It was the most serious air disaster of 1995.
